  12. I have been having nothing but problems with a Zoltrix 14.4
  13. Voice/fax/data modem which is based on the Rockwell RPI   (not +)
  14. chip.  It came with  Cheyenne  DOS program , BITCOM, which claims to
  15. support MNP5 , since the modem doesn't.  However even after
  16. establishing a 9600 baud connection,  announcing, a MNP5 I receive
  17. garbage, and after a few minutes the connection is broken.  Attempting
  18. to use the windows version, after the connection is established and
  19. the protocol message of "NONE" is announced  the screen is cleared and
  20. "speed_connect "  is displayed on the top of the screen, followed by
  21. some data but mostly garbage.  I have heard from Zoltrix and Rockwell
  22. who keep refering me to FAQ's and one another. Cheyenne has a bunch of
  23. year old FAX back notes but no help.  I have tried several different
  24. modems, both brands and phone numbers at the remote  end but I am
  25. unable to establish a sucessfull connection for more than a few
  26. minutes. PS using an older Practical Peripherals 9600SA I get an error
  27. free connection for hours at a time to the same numbers.  All these
  28. numbers are in the same telco exchange which I have reported problems
  29. to.  I keep hearing from telco that this is probally a trunk problem
  30. but they cannot seem to fix it. I have loaded WRPI comm driver and
  31. tried terminal, WINRPI driver spending hours and hours and...#%@

  33. Any help, or words of sympathy would be GREATLY appreaciated

  36. Does software error correction ever work, or are TCP/IP and other
  37. protocals hiding these problems from most people?
